A few words from Pleasant Petite Founder Bobby Nagelberg
For the first 21 years of my life, the ingredients in the food I ate were never a thought. I ate a typical "Western" diet, eating mostly meat, cheese, and processed foods.
Everything changed a month before my 21st birthday when I was diagnosed with brain cancer. After years of treatments, medications, and recovery, I decided to look into things for myself.
I was told by countless doctors that there was no rhyme or reason for me getting sick, that it could happen to anyone. The more I researched, the more I learned of other cancer survivors who live a healthy life after cancer, and some cases where individuals totally reversed their illnesses through a proper whole food, plant based diet. Upon finally making the connection between the food I was eating and the way my body reacts, I knew I had to change my diet.
In March of 2015, I started a strictly organic vegan diet. It was in May of the same year that I began working at Organic Corner in Massapequa. This is where my knowledge and enthusiasm about eating a healthy diet really started to grow. After making the easy adjustment to my new way of eating, my one displeasure was I found it difficult to find dessert foods that not only tasted good, but weren't filled with harmful ingredients.
After reading about "raw" desserts, I was intrigued. I learned about the possibility of having healthy tasting treats and all l wanted to do was create my own. I am so excited to be on this journey as founder of Pleasant Petites, and am super enthusiastic about helping to show people how delicious dessert-type foods can be, and also how they can be incorporated in a well-balanced diet.
